About the Course

As a federally funded program, GEAR UP grants are subject to several layers of legislation and regulations. This course will cover an overview of these policies, including the required and permissible activities for GEAR UP grants, basic financial rules like allowable costs and matching fund obligations, and data reporting and evaluation requirements. Understanding the legislation and regulations are critical for all staff and partners who support GEAR UP programs.


Upon completion of this course, you will be able to

  • Explain the purpose and sources of rules and regulations for the GEAR UP program.  
  • Review the legislative goals and requirements of GEAR UP.
  • Explore the required and permissible activities for GEAR UP grants.
  • Understand the GEAR UP scholarship including administration and eligibility requirements.
  • Examine basic financial regulations for GEAR UP programs including what funds can be used for and matching fund obligations.
  • Learn and reflect on the data collection, reporting, and evaluation requirements for GEAR UP programs.

Timing
This course should take you approximately 2 hours to complete.


Certificate

To receive a certificate of completion, you must complete the course and pass the assessment with an 80% or higher. You will have two retake opportunities.
