About the Course
This course provides an overview of the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP), a federal program designed to increase college access and success. Participants will explore the program's history, goals, and key data demonstrating its importance. Participants will learn how GEAR UP is administered and organized, including examples of services, and will describe the unique features of the program. The course also provides an opportunity to reflect on the participant’s role within GEAR UP and the broader community, and to understand the role of NCCEP in supporting GEAR UP.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Communicate the history, purpose, and goals of the GEAR UP initiative.
- Identify key data that demonstrates the importance of GEAR UP.
- Explain how GEAR UP is administered and organized including examples of services.
- Describe the unique features of GEAR UP.
- Reflect on your role within GEAR UP and the broader community.
- Understand the role of NCCEP and how the organization supports GEAR UP.

Timing
This course should take you approximately 2 hours to complete.
Certificate
To receive a certificate of completion, you must complete the course and pass the assessment with an 80% or higher. You will have two retake opportunities.
